Hi, my name is Jeff,

I love dogs; my passion for them and my “always learning mentality” is what inspires me. I understand that all dogs are different and that there are countless training techniques to utilize depending on the dog. Learning from other trainers in the field also helps me to grow and evolve in order to provide the best in training.

I have been training pet dogs for over 20 years. I was formally introduced to dog training by a police K9 handler who was my neighbor.  My passion for dog training began with my female Rottweiler, Sasha at 12 years of age. My experience beginning at an early age started with basic commands, morphing into learning to follow scent trails which introduced me to tracking and scent work. This ignited my passion to actually learn and work with them together as a team. I moved on to train my neighbors dogs in simple leash manners and obedience, as well as reading countless books to build my confidence as a dog trainer.

I volunteered at my local humane society for 2 years, where I assisted in training to rehabilitate fearful dogs in the hopes of adoption, and from there, worked at a kennel giving group classes utilizing the AKC CGC Guidelines as my training principles. I’ve trained dog breeds ranging from Cocker Spaniels to Mastiffs.

My personal dogs:  Spider (Jack Russell Terrier), Danny (Labrador Retriever) and King (German Shepherd), were trained by me to become bed bug detection dogs, and as a bonus, I trained King and Danny in protection. I also trained and handled another German Shepherd which won second place at the 2019 USCA National Sieger Show in North Carolina (non-titled Division, 9-12 months). Recently, I trained him to obtain his BH working title in IGP (Schutzhund I) which he received. We are currently working on IGP 1 Title.

Currently, I am an AKC CGC evaluator and teach scent work, provide group classes as well as one on one sessions to clients.  I also specialize in leash reactive dogs for "GOOD Dog Boston", a dog training company based in Boston.

My personal mantra is to maintain the "always learning mentality" because of the ever-changing science in dog training. My goal at Boston K9 is to strengthen your bond with your dog, customize and simplify dog training to fit your lifestyle, in a stress-free manner.
